Training and education is central at the NC Research Campus. Campus partners and the community benefit from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s training center, the R3 Center and the Kannapolis Scholars program.
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s Biotechnology Training Center is located on the NC Research Campus. A three-floor, 62,000 square-foot facility that is a “hands-on realistic training environment.” The training center hosts ten classrooms, ten laboratories, faculty and staff offices, a community event room, library, multiple conference rooms, distance-education, video conferencing capabilities and a student center. Students take classes to achieve an associate degree in biotechnology that prepares them for jobs such as lab technicians, research assistants,or quality control associates.
R3 Center
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s R3 Center, an adult career development center, is located in the nearby village. R3 re-focuses, re-trains, and re-employs people who are under- or unemployed by assessing and profiling skills, aptitudes, training and academic credentials, identifying future career interests, and mapping out a plan for career growth.
Kannapolis Scholars
Kannapolis Scholars is a transdisciplinary training program that harnesses the assets of the NCRC by bringing postgraduate students from the universities on campus to study food science, nutrition and human health in partnership with some of the leading scientists in those fields.
